Although it may be difficult to tear yourself away from all the amenities that Bay Creek has to offer, you’ll find even more to do and see in neighboring Cape Charles. With its welcoming mix of shops, restaurants and parks, this Southern small town is a charming place to spend the day—whether you’re sipping a cup of coffee by the harbor, meeting friends for delicious fresh seafood, or enjoying a live concert or play at the elegantly restored Palace Theatre. There’s also a day spa, where you can pamper yourself with a facial or a massage.
Cape Charles is known for its beautiful mix of stately Victorian homes; many have been preserved due to the town’s designation in the National Register of Historic Places. Wide front porches, gingerbread trim and grand turrets can be seen on almost every tree-lined street.
Nearby you’ll find Kiptopeke State Park and the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge, which together feature almost 2,000 acres of coastal habitat. Both are wonderful places to hike and kayak. The parks are also major flyways for migratory birds, and are perfect for birdwatchers in search of ospreys, hawks and bald eagles.
